Brushy Mountain Publishing is now accepting photos for the River Gypsies' Guide to North America. And here's the good news - if your photos are chosen to be in the book, you could win big! Top prizes include the new Pyranha kayak of your choice, a weekend creeking clinic from the RiverGypsies, or a spot on one of our future adventures! (to be announced soon). We're hoping more prizes will be coming in soon, and we'll keep you posted on what's going on with the contest.

Here's how it works:
We'll have two lists of rivers - high probability and low. High probability runs are more likely to get your photo into the book, so it's better to enter pictures from those. Low probability runs are still going in the book, but I already have some pictures of those. You submit your photos (no limit to the number) and if your photos are selected to be in the book you win a free book when they come out (one per person), and are entered into the drawing to win the big prizes. Once the decision has been made as to what photos will go in the book (sometime mid-2008), we will begin drawing names for the prizes. The first name drawn gets to choose which prize they want. The next person gets to choose their prize from the ones remaining, and so on. You get one entry for each of your photos that is chosen to go in the book, so if you have tons of pictures of these runs, you could win more than once!!

Monthly Vote-off
Check back here every month to see what the competition has to offer. We'll be picking 3 photos every month and putting them up on the web for an audience vote-off. Once the photos are up, we'll accept votes by email on which photo is the public's favorite. The winner of the vote will get to choose any Brushy Mountain Publishing book or DVD as a prize.

What we're looking for:
A picture is worth 1000 words, and this book is going to be about rivers. We're looking for images that express 1000 words about what a paddler might expect to find on the featured river. Action shots and scenics are both good, but shots that are so zoomed in as to not show the river have little chance of being chosen.
